Sumter County Agriculture
The agricultural industry in Sumter County is a strong component of the county's economic picture. An Agricultural Census is conducted every five years that gives us a good picture of all that is produced in each county. The following are statistics from the last census, which was completed in 2007 and published in 2009. Value of agricultural products $35 million (3% increase from last census), 837 farms, 191 average farm size, $35, 153 average annual value of products per farm, 159,700 acreas in agricultural production.
